Each year in July, rain or shine, the Freedom Tour Bike Races are held in Stirling New Jersey. This year the race was held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 and marked the Eighteenth Anniversary of this event. A highlight of the Freedom Tour was the 10th running of the New Jersey Firefighters Bike Race which raises money for the Saint Barnabas Burn Center in Livington, N.J. Firefighters compete in a friendly race wearing full turnout gear (except for fire boots which makes pedaling a hazard) * * * Congratulations to Jefferson Twp Fire Co # 2 members : Firefighter Bill Weir and Firefighter Lee Williams for participating in this year's event. Bill placed 9th out of 96 participants and Lee place 1st for the women's division!!
