On the evening of June 27, 2009 a gas pump at the Woroco gas station on Route 15 and Berkshire Valley Road ignited into flames as a result of a motor vehicle accident. The station was quickly evacuated and the emergency fuel cut off switch was immediately activated by station attendants. Jefferson Fire Companies 1 & 2 and the Jefferson Twp Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene along with Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department and two fire companies from Rockaway Twp. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished by firefighters from Jefferson Fire Company # 2. One patient was transported to a local hospital by Jefferson Rescue Squad.
